About us
Áras Inis Gluaire is Ireland’s first bilingual arts centre, located in the scenic town of Belmullet on the Erris Peninsula, an area rich in myth and history. One of its most famous legends is that of the Children of Lir, who were transformed into swans and exiled to the island of Inis Gluaire for 300 years. This tale symbolises themes of loss, transformation, and resilience, deeply resonating with the local culture.
Our mission is to serve the Erris community by providing cultural, social, economic, and educational opportunities through the arts, all set against the backdrop of one of Ireland’s most stunningly beautiful regions.

Practical visitor information and tips on the surrounding area, to ensure an experience filled with discovery both at the arts centre and in the vibrant surrounding area.
